Im siebten Himmel, sieben Tode
Dank dem Peace Paper Project in Hamburg St. Pauli kann ich u. a. alte Fehldrucke recyceln oder besondere Textilien zu Papier umwandeln. Ein T-Shirt machte den Anfang. Als ich 2017 eingeladen wurde, eine Arbeit aus Papier herzustellen, erinnerte ich mich an eine Geschichte aus meiner Kindheit. Bei einem Ausflug in ein Freilichtmuseum lernten wir, wie man Papier herstellt. Eine Frau erzählte uns, dass Papier aus Lumpen gemacht wurde: Lumpen von getragenen Kleidern. Ich stellte mir vor, wer diese Kleider wohl getragen hat. Mittlerweile gibt es weitere Papier-Objekte wie die Unterhosen, diese Masken hier oder die Steine. Mal sehen, was noch kommen wird. Oft entstehen die Dinge intuitiv oder in einer Kombination aus Situation, Material und deren Wirkung.
Thanks to the Paper Peace Project in Hamburg St. Pauli, I can recycle old misprints or turn special textiles into paper, among other things. A T-shirt was the start. Because when I was invited to make a paper piece in 2017, I remembered a story from my childhood. On a trip to an open-air museum, we learned how to make paper. A woman told us that paper was made from rags. Rags from worn clothes. I imagined who must have worn those clothes. Meanwhile, there are more paper objects like the Pants, the Masks or the Stones. Let’s see what else will come about. Things often develop intuitively or from a combina- tion of situation, materials and their effect.
