In der Ausstellung Cats & Dogs begegnen sich zwei künstlerische Positionen, die auf den ersten Blick gegensätzlich erscheinen und gerade darin ihre gemeinsame Spannung entfalten. Cindy Hennes arbeitet mit der Reduktion: Linien als präzise Setzungen, als rhythmische Verdichtung von Wahrnehmung und Erfahrung, die eine klare und konzentrierte Bildsprache erzeugen. Thomas Judisch hingegen operiert stärker im Gegenständlichen, im Fragment, im Fundstückhaften, das sich dem Raum einschreibt und narrative Andeutungen zulässt. Zwischen diesen Polen, Ordnung und Zufall, Kontrolle und Spiel, entsteht ein Dialog, der sich nicht auflöst, sondern bewusst offen bleibt.

Die Ausstellung versteht „Cats & Dogs“ nicht als Gegensatzpaar, sondern als produktive Reibung zweier Systeme. Wie Katze und Hund bewegen sich die Arbeiten umeinander, beobachten, konfrontieren und ignorieren sich zugleich. Hamburg und Dresden fungieren dabei nicht nur als Ausstellungsorte, sondern als zwei Koordinaten eines erweiterten Raums, verbunden durch Austausch und eine langjährige künstlerische Freundschaft. Im Zusammenspiel entsteht ein Feld, in dem sich Mikrostrukturen und Alltagsfragmente gegenseitig spiegeln. Linien werden zu Spuren, Objekte zu Zeichen. Cats & Dogs ist damit weniger eine thematische Ausstellung als ein Zustand: ein präzise gesetztes Nebeneinander, das Differenz nicht glättet, sondern sichtbar macht.

In the exhibition Cats & Dogs, two artistic positions meet that at first glance appear contradictory, yet it is precisely this contrast that creates their shared tension. Cindy Hennes works with reduction: lines as precise placements, as a rhythmic condensation of perception and experience that generates a clear and concentrated visual language. Thomas Judisch, on the other hand, operates more within the realm of the representational, the fragmentary, the found object, which inscribes itself into the space and allows for narrative allusions. Between these poles, order and chance, control and play, a dialogue emerges that does not dissolve but deliberately remains open.

The exhibition understands „Cats & Dogs“ not as a pair of opposites, but as a productive friction between two systems. Like cat and dog, the works move around each other, observing, confronting, and simultaneously ignoring one another. Hamburg and Dresden function not only as exhibition venues but also as two coordinates of an expanded space, connected by exchange and a long-standing artistic friendship. In this interplay, a field emerges in which microstructures and everyday fragments reflect each other. Lines become traces, objects become signs. Cats & Dogs is thus less a thematic exhibition than a state of being: a precisely placed juxtaposition that does not smooth over difference, but makes it visible.
